Mexico and the history of San Antonio

texas history bookThe Mexican Revolution

Basically, just like the US had a revolution to throw off the rule of the British, Mexico had their own revolution to throw off the rule of Spain. The native Indians in Mexico mixed with the Spainards and this new generation of people began to be unhappy with Spanish rule, corruption and the big differences in class. The Mexican Revolution started in 1810. Mexico won their independence and now ruled over Tejas. Many Mexicans had moved to the San Antonio area during the revolution and settled there. The influence of Mexico and Spain in San Antonio is very much alive.
